Two hundred and seventy five Nigerians were honoured with various categories of national award on Monday 22nd December 2008 at the International Conference Centre, Abuja.

The award ceremony which was presided by President Umaru Musa Yar'Adua recorded the highest number of recipients since the beginning of the investiture ceremony in 1963.

7 distinguished Nigerians were conferred with the Commander of the Federal Republic (CFR), 26 (CON), 46 (OFR), 95 Officer of the Order of the Niger (OON), 65 Member of the Federal Republic (MFR), 24 Member of the Order of the Niger (MON) and 12 Federal Republic Medals I and II.

While delivering his address, President Yar'Adua urged the recepients to continue to contribute to the development of Nigeria even as he encouraged them not to relent in their service to humanity. Read More
